Disney To Cash In On 3D Classics

After the recent success of a 3D re-release of one of Disney’s most loved animated classics, The Lion King, the studio have decided to cash in on the success and release four more of there most loved animations in 3D. The re-release of The Lion King has raked in $80 million, which for a re-release is pretty good going.

Disney have now selected four other films including Beauty and the Beast ( due for release on Jan. 31, 2012), Finding Nemo (Sept. 14, 2012), Monsters, Inc. (Jan. 18, 2013) and The Little Mermaid (Sept. 13, 2013). All of which are very popular and are sure to bring the crowds back to the cinema.

Beauty & The Beast is the next on the list for the 3D treatment and you can see a new trailer for it below. This Beauty & the Beast re-release will also feature a short of the very successful Tangled, called Tangled Ever After. You can see a poster for this below along with a new poster for Beauty & the Beast.

Cynics will be quick to call this a money-grab as the films are simply ported to 3D and will surely have a DVD spin off with some new extras tagged on, but others will see it as another chance to see some of there childhood favourites back in the box office and in a whole new light with both 3D and HD added.
