Josh Pence was, although you may not know it, a star of the massively successful and brilliant The Social Network last year. He actually played the role of Tyler Winklevoss, but he actually had his own face digitally replaced by Arnie Hammer. It was actually a very smooth and seamless process that although Pence may not have liked not visually appearing in one of the biggest movies of the year, it seems to have paid off as Christopher Nolan has signed him up to star in what will be the biggest movie of next year The Dark Knight Rises, which is of course the final in the Nolan Batman trilogy.
His part is that of the young Ra’s Al Ghul, the character played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins and the word is that his scenes in the film will take place thirty years in the past. We know that Inception stars Marion Cottilard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy have roles in the film, but only Hardy’s character, Bane, has been confirmed as well as the confirmation of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.
Obviously we have no details as yet on how a young Ra’s Al Ghul will feature, but it could be through flash backs or something along those lines.
With stars such as Christian Bale, Michale Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman confirmed to return, along with the new cast list Pence is in some very good company. It seems as if Nolan really is pushing out all the stops to make The Dark Knight Rises the perfect round off to the trilogy.
